Who is the resource for?

Whether you are a teacher, trainee teacher, learning support assistant, coach, in a leadership position, or a school governor you have something to learn from this training course. More importantly, the disabled learners you teach will benefit from being able to join in all the learning activities in school and achieving their full potential.

Regardless of your role in school, everyone should take the core module. This explains what schools are required to do under the Equality Act 2010 for disabled learners. It includes videos, case studies and exemplar materials with practical examples of ways to include disabled learners in curricular and extra-curricular activities.

The resource also has several specific modules that address different areas of provision for disabled learners. Depending on your role and areas of work, you can decide which suit your particular development needs. You may wish to discuss which modules suit you best with a manager and/or co-worker. Each module should take you around 20 – 30 minutes to complete and all finish with a short question and answer section at the end to review your learning.

This resource can be used as subject specific staff in-service in a twilight session. Or as an overall staff development day, with teachers taking specific modules then contributing to discussions on a whole school approach and action plan.
